“History Remembered; The Future Embraced; Celebrating 150 Years”

Visitors to the 31st Annual Historic Florence Home Tour on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will view diverse architectural styles in over 25 homes and buildings.

The theme for the 31st annual Home Tour, “History Remembered; The Future Embraced; Celebrating 150 Years,” reflects Florence’s 150th anniversary. All visitors are welcome on February 13th to celebrate Florence’s rich territorial history. Visitors may walk the tour route, which begins in downtown Florence. Transportation is provided to outlying historical structures on the tour.

Florence was also recently named a “Top Ten True Western Town” in the United States by True West magazine. The town also received a 2015 Governor’s Heritage Preservation Award for 31 years of Home Tour excellence.

In addition to the tour, the Pinal County Historical Society and Museum has a special exhibit featuring 150 Years of Fashion in Florence. A variety of clothing demonstrating changes in fashion that reflect the changes in the town’s history is on display. Buttoned up Victorians, flappers, the popular “squaw” dresses of the fifties, cowgirls and women at work are a few examples. This display portrays the feminine side to Florence’s history.

The Florence Arts and Culture Commission is hosting its Inaugural Quick Draw Art Event from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Jacob Suter House, 270 N. Pinal Street. The Florence Women’s Club, also in conjunction with the Home Tour, is hosting an Art Show featuring a variety of artistic displays from local artists.

Tickets are only $15 for adults the day of the event or $10 in advance. Advance tickets are available at the Pinal County Historical Society and Museum, Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, Florence Visitor’s Center and the new Florence Library and Community Center. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.florenceaz.gov/hometour.
