By the Time They Came to Phoenix:

African-American Cotton Pickers in AZ

Guest speaker Akua Duku Anokye will be at the library Thursday, February 16 at 6:00 pm to discuss the lives of African Americans who came to the Arizona cotton fields between the 1940s and the 1960s.  The presentation will look at their daily lives, and at some of their cultural, historical, and economic contributions — from founding churches to serving as civic and social leaders.

This program is made possible by AZ Humanities and is sponsored by the Friends of the Florence Community Library.
