Gather your family and friends to register for the Florence Parks and Recreation Department’s Hiking Club. 

The third hike this season is Saturday, January 10, 2015 and it starts at the main trailhead in Catalina State Park located in Oro Valley. It will be a 5.6 mile, round trip hike into the Coronado National Forest to the Romero Pools. This is a moderately difficult hike. The first mile is a relatively flat and easy walk, however, the next 1.7 miles is a steep, rocky, switchback climb to Romero Pools. From the Trailhead to Romero Pools is 2.8 miles with an elevation gain of 900 feet. 

Participants meet at the Florence Fitness Center, located at 133 N. Main Street, at 8:45 am. Departure time is 9:00 a.m. sharp and participants drive themselves to the trailhead. The hike and drive-time for this event is approximately five to six hours. 

The fee is $5.00 for this event.  There is a 15 person group limit. There is an additional $7.00 per vehicle entry fee to the park. Hikers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. You must pre-register for this hike. The registration deadline is Thursday, January 8, 2015.
