Some of the topics covered in the Citizen Academy are police operations, communications, crime scene investigations, and use of canines.

There is no charge to attend the Citizen Academy.  Sessions are held every Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., starting on September 5th and ending on October 10th.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Town of Florence (winter visitors are welcome), and complete a background check.  Applications are available at the Florence Police Department, located at 425 N.
