The Pinal Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Governing Board formally appointed Mr. Tom Rankin, Mayor of the Town of Florence, as the Chairperson of the Pinal RTA.  Mr. Dave Waldron, Councilmember from the City of Apache Junction was appointed as the Vice Chairperson. The RTA Board is comprised of each Mayor within Pinal County, or their appointees, and representation from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

“I am honored to be selected by my peers as the person to chair the RTA,” expressed Mayor Tom Rankin.  “We have a lot of hard work ahead of us if we want to provide the voters in Pinal County with the information they need to make a decision in the November election.   The voters in Pinal County will decide if they want a funded regional transportation plan to guide us in Pinal County for the next 20 years.”

The Pinal RTA was formed by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors on August 5, 2015, and is designed to focus on creating a balanced regional transportation system for the residents of Pinal County.  In accordance with State Statute, the Central Arizona Governments provides leadership and oversees the activities of the Pinal RTA.  At their meeting on May 11, 2016, the Pinal RTA Board formally adopted a Regional Transportation Plan for Pinal County that calls for roadway development, local roadway improvements and transit over a 20-year period.  More information is available atwww.cagaz.org/rta.html.
