Public Hearings on Major Amendments to the Town of Florence 2020 General Plan

The Town of Florence Planning and Zoning Commission is conducting two public hearings for the consideration of three Major Amendment applications to the Town’s 2020 General Plan. To promote increased public participation, the meetings are being held in two locations in Florence.

The first special meeting is held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Anthem at Merrill Ranch Sun City Union Center in Florence, located at 3925 North Sun City Boulevard. The second special meeting is held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 in the Town Hall Council Chambers, located at 775 North Main Street. Both meetings are held at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise noticed.

After listening to the details of each of the proposed Major Amendments to the Town’s General Plan, the Planning and Zoning Commission will make recommendations for approval or disapproval and forward their recommendations to the Florence Town Council. The Florence Town Council will hold a public hearing and determine final actions at their meeting held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Florence Town Hall Council Chambers located at 775 North Main Street, unless otherwise noticed.

The Town’s 2020 General Plan is a critical planning and policy tool used to encourage smart growth and sustainable development practices. The upcoming Major General Plan Amendment hearings consider two applications submitted by Pew and Lake, PLC on behalf of Curis Resources (Arizona) Inc. The Town also has an application under consideration related to the proposed North-South ADOT Freeway Corridor.
