Florence Police Volunteer in Police Service Program (VIPS)

Chief Robert Ingulli initiated the Volunteer in Police Program in January 2005.  The Volunteer in Police Service Program is a National Organization supported by many law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.  The purpose of the program is to assist the law enforcement agencies with non-criminal activities.

Prospective volunteers are required to submit an application, be fingerprinted and are subjected to a background check.  After being accepted, the volunteer will be issued photo I. D, .polo shirt, and hat as a uniform. Upon completing proper training, the volunteer may assist in traffic control for accident scenes, crime scene security, fire scenes security, commercial vehicle inspections, and special events and a variety of other programs.

Volunteer applications are available at the Police Department.
