Florence Community Services Department is supporting the nation-wide event titled, the “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson” on Thursday, June 21st at the aquatic center.  The event is a national movement to convince the public of the importance of teaching children how to swim to help prevent drownings.   Every summer, children drown in pools, lakes and canals which are preventable tragedies.  Beginning at 2:00 p.m., and during our regular Open Swim hours, Florence aquatic staff featuring water safety instructors (WSI certified) will demonstrate and discuss water-safety and swim lessons to all who wish to participate.  For more information, visit www.florenceaz.gov/aquatic-center or call Erasmo “Beebo” Mendivil at (520) 868-7586.
