“Our State, Our Story: Celebrating 100 Years of Arizona” enters its third week of activities at the Florence Community Library, showcasing Arizona’s rich culture and history.

The library is hosting Summer Reading events for the week of June 18. On Monday, the third set of trivia handouts is available for children and young adults. On Tuesday at 2:00pm, the library hosts video games for teens, ages 13 and up. On Wednesday at 10:00am, there is Family Storytime, Mona Hodgson’s “Bedtime in the Southwest” – everyone is encouraged to wear your favorite pajamas! On Thursday at 2:00pm, families design their own southwestern wrist bands. On Friday, the library shows a family movie at 1:00pm, with free popcorn and drink.

The adult summer reading also continues with an event on Thursday, June 21, at 5:30pm. Author Cathy Hufault visits the library to discuss her book, “Death Clouds on Mt. Baldy: Tucson’s Lost Tragedy.” The book chronicles the November 1958 search for six boy scouts after a sudden blizzard struck while they attempted to climb Mt. Wrightson (also known as Mt. Baldy). Copies of the book are available to buy, courtesy of the Friends of the Florence Community Library.
