Arizona western history is rich with facts, tales and even legends. Sorting fact from fiction can be difficult when the combination of movies, articles and books have built our western heroes into unrecognizable individuals. However, western author and teacher Jim Turner will discuss the legends and discuss how these legends grew.

Arizona’s Wild Myths and Legends is next in a series of historical presentations that the recreation division of Florence Community Services has scheduled. The program, coordinated in conjunction with Az Humanities is on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Community Center starting at 6:00 p.m.

Turner has taught Arizona history for over 40 years and is a past member of the Arizona Historical Society. His pictorial history book Arizona: Celebration of the Grand Canyon State was a 2012 Southwest Books of the Year selection.

All the presentations are free. The Community Center is located at 778 N. Main Street.
