Arthur Neal: Councilmember

Born and raised in Florence, Arthur “Snake” Neal is a product of his upbringing through and through. His youth shaped him with many of the town’s core values such as loyalty, tradition, and respect.

After graduating high school, he attended Eastern Arizona College on a football scholarship before returning home to serve with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout the years, he and his wife have built a beautiful family with 10 children, and Snake regularly attends enough sports’ games, ceremonies and events for a lifetime.

He has spent many years coaching youth football within Florence and enjoys going to the desert, camping, and yelling at his beloved NFL team, the Falcons. He retired from the Sheriff’s Office at 40, and a few years later decided to give back to the town that raised him, getting elected to Florence’s Town Council.

During a portion of his term, he was a security guard at Florence K-8, working alongside his wife and several of his children, becoming a beloved figure to the youth. After a few years he chose to move on and returned to Pinal County in court security, where he currently works.

During his service on the council, Snake gained knowledge, perspective, and learned things he never knew about his home. After the end of his term, Snake received a heartfelt goodbye and a coveted key to the city, only to quickly return, voted back in by the mayor and his fellow councilmembers.

This time around, Snake plans to use the experience he’s gained to motivate and involve the people of Florence, make the best decisions that will benefit the community, and learn more about the town he has happily spent his life in.
