Florence, AZ – The Florence Community Services Department is excited to announce Moon, Mars, & Beyond – an Exhibition that aims to excite and educate the community about human spaceflight and NASA’s upcoming Artemis mission – is coming to the Florence Community Library on October 8th! The Florence Community Library is honored to be one of only eight public libraries across the country that was selected to receive the exhibit and will be the only library in Arizona to host this event.

Speaking to this exciting opportunity, new Florence Library Manager Lisa Lewis shared, “We are very pleased to be able to host the Moon, Mars & Beyond Exhibit at the Florence Community Library.  We are thrilled to be one of eight libraries across the country to be chosen for this opportunity.  We hope that our community will come out to see, interact, and enjoy the exhibit while learning more about NASA’s next phase of space exploration!”

The exhibit, accompanying kits, and activities will examine the path towards having a permanent Moon presence, using the International Space Station as the micro-gravity laboratory, and exploring current and future missions to Mars. The exhibit also explores the differences and similarities between Earth, the Moon, and Mars, and reveals how we’re planning to make these trips, how we’ll live there, what we’ll learn, and more. The exhibition will begin with a Grand Opening Celebration on October 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be on display through November 12, 2022.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) programming associated with this exhibit, such as a traveling planetarium, a rocket building station, and a space station creator, will also be available starting on October 1st. For dates, times, and additional information, follow the Florence Community Library on Facebook. And for more information on NASA’s Artemis Mission, visit https://www.nasa.gov/specials/artemis.

The Florence Community Library hopes that the excitement of this exhibit and the upcoming Artemis Mission will introduce a variety of fascinating STEAM learning experiences to community members of all ages.
