Florence, AZ – The Town of Florence is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul King as the new Director of Community Services effective April 7, 2023. Mr. King brings over 26 years of experience in the field of Parks and Recreation and previously served as Recreation Administrator in Glendale, Arizona.
As the Director of Community Services, Mr. King will be responsible for overseeing Parks, Recreation Programming, the Aquatics Center and Viney Jones Library, Special Events, and the Dorothy Nolan Senior Center. His leadership and expertise in managing park operations, recreation facilities, and community amenities will be invaluable as the town continues to grow and develop its recreation programming.
“I am thrilled to join the Town of Florence and work with the dedicated staff and community to provide high-quality programs, services, and events, ” said Mr. King. “I look forward to building on the town’s strong foundation and exploring new opportunities to enhance the quality of life for residents.”
During his time in Glendale, Mr. King oversaw the renovation of several parks and facilities including the Rose Lane Aquatics center and the Glendale Community Center. He also worked closely with community groups to create new programs and events that engaged residents of all ages and backgrounds.

Mr. King is a certified park and recreation professional with a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Resource Management from Colorado Mesa University. Prior to working in Glendale, Mr. King served as a Recreation Manager in Aspen, Colorado, and Mesa, Arizona. With Mr. King’s appointment, Interim Community Services Director, Alison Feliz, will resume her role as Recreation Superintendent.
