Florence, AZ – The Town of Florence is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Walls as the new Town Manager. At their regular meeting on September 16, 2024, the Florence Town Council unanimously approved an employment contract with Mr. Walls, whose leadership will be instrumental in guiding Florence’s growth and achieving the Council’s vision for the future. Mr. Walls has served as Interim Town Manager since April 2, 2024, and his extensive experience will continue to benefit the community.
With over 40 years of experience in law enforcement and public service, including his recent role as Police Chief, Mr. Walls brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to the Florence community. His leadership, strong communication skills, and ability to build trusted relationships have earned him widespread respect from both colleagues and residents.
Before joining Florence in 2019, Mr. Walls served with distinction at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and as Commander of the North Precinct with the Peoria Police Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA from the University of Phoenix and has continued his professional development through prestigious programs such as the Northwestern Command School of Leadership, ASU Certified Public Manager’s Course, Leadership West, and the FBI National Academy.
Mayor Tara Walter expressed her confidence in Mr. Walls’ leadership, stating, “We are excited to have Bruce lead our town. His proven track record, dedication, and vision for Florence make him an outstanding choice. We look forward to working together to continue building a vibrant future for our community.”
In accepting the position, Mr. Walls shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It is an honor to serve Florence in this new capacity. Mr. Walls will continue to serve as Police Chief while the town conducts a national search for his replacement.
