Florence, AZ – The Town of Florence is pleased to announce the appointment of Police Chief Bruce Walls as Interim Town Manager, effective April 2, 2024. Chief Walls will assume interim duties from Deputy Town Manager & Clerk, Lisa Garcia, who will continue in her current role.
Chief Walls brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having previously served as acting Town Manager. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades in law enforcement and public service, Chief Walls is well-equipped to lead the town during this transitional period.
Before joining the Town of Florence as Police Chief in 2019, Chief Walls served with distinction at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and retired from the Peoria Police Department as the Commander of the North Precinct in 2017. His extensive background includes various assignments such as Patrol, Recruit Training Officer, Family Crimes Detective, Professional Standards, Recruitment/Hiring, and Departmental Training.
Chief Walls is a seasoned leader with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has further honed his skills through prestigious programs such as the Northwestern School of Leadership and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.

The Town Council remains actively engaged in the ongoing search for a permanent Town Manager. Chief Walls will serve as both Interim Town Manager and Police Chief until a permanent selection is made.
