Funeral Escort Policy/Agreement

The Florence Police Department may provide traffic escorts for funeral services held within the approved service area under the following conditions:

  • Processions may be escorted from the place of service (church or other location) to a local cemetery via the most direct route, using Florence Police personnel as escorts.
  • A minimum of Three police units/personnel (vehicles equipped with lights and sirens) will be provided, with one unit following up at the end of the procession. One will lead the procession and the other will be used to block intersections and control traffic as required. Depending on the length of the procession, more may be needed.
  • Procession personnel will be dressed in uniform, will be professional in manner, and will use any safety measures and procedures required to provide a safe escort.

FEE SCHEDULE:

The Fee schedule for services will be as follows:

*Funeral Escort – Three officers for two hours $ 360.00

 Payment can be made in person at the Florence Police Department [425 N Pinal St, Florence, AZ 85132]. Cash, check, and money order. We calso accept credit/debit cards as a form of payment with a 3% service charge, and we can take the credit/debit card over the phone along with e-check. Payment for the escort must be made at least two business days before the date of service.

IN CASES OF CANCELLATION, A TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR NOTICE IS REQUESTED!

APPLICATION:

A funeral home desiring to obtain a funeral escort within the Town of Florence shall file a written application no less than 48 hours prior to the funeral. Such application shall include the name of the Funeral Home, address and telephone number of the applicant, payment of fee as established by the Town of Florence Fee Schedule for the service of funeral escort by the Florence Police Volunteers/Patrol officers, Proof of Liability insurance for the Funeral Home, and a signed Hold Harmless Agreement against the Florence Police Volunteers patrol officers.

IDEMINITY:

The funeral home/Funeral Coordinator shall assume all responsibility for its activity and operation, shall bear all losses and damages directly or indirectly related to him or her, any subcontractors, the Town, or Town employees that are the result of the performance or character of the operation, unforeseen difficulties, accidents, occurrences, or other causes not predicated on active negligence of the Town. The permittee, or his designee, shall assume the defense of and indemnity faction of the Town and agrees to hold harmless the Town, its officers, and employees from all claims, loss, damage, injury, and liability of every kind, nature, and description, including punitive damages, directly or indirectly arising from the escorting of a funeral procession.
