The next in a series of lectures from AZ Humanities, is on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Library and Community Center. The presentation titled, Honky Tonks, Brothels and Mining Camps: Entertainment in Old Arizona is part of AZ Speaks and AZ Humanities. During Arizona’s pioneer days, the performing arts were often only found in mining towns. Lucky miners who were fortunate to reap riches from their claims, often spent disposal income on various pursuits including opera, orchestras, plays and brothels. Jay Cravath, Ph.D., is the presenter at this free event and is a writer and composer in music. His presentations are a mixture of story, slides and song creating a unique and entertaining presentation. The Community Center is located at 778 N. Main Street.
