Come to the library and community center at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 20 for the Florence Community Library’s monthly movie discussion.  This month, we will focus on the many movies based on the works of best-selling horror author Stephen King, followed by a free screening of a 2017 hit!

Considered a “master of horror,” King has written more than 50 novels and 200 short stories.  Many of these tales have been adapted into celebrated motion pictures, with highlights that include The Shining, The Dead Zone, Stand by Me, and The Shawshank Redemption.  Even as these titles have been widely acclaimed, other movies based on his works have fallen short – most recently last year’s film of The Dark Tower.

Our presentation will look at some of the movies based on King’s books, including both the successes and the failures.  The discussion will be followed by a free showing of a recent hit movie – all completely free of charge.  Please Note: This month’s movie is Rated R for violence/horror and profanity.  Viewers under age 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Popcorn and water will be available to all while supplies last.  You are encouraged to bring snacks and soft drinks to the show.

For title information, or to sign up, please contact the library at (520) 868 – 8311.
