In recognition of Memorial Day and to honor military personnel who paid the ultimate price for our freedom, Florence Community Service Department will present a Memorial Day tribute which will be accessible online. The tribute opens when Dr. Jesse McGuire, known as the “American Trumpeter,” plays the National Anthem. McGuire has performed for Presidents Reagan, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He has performed at countless professional athletic events and other functions throughout our country.

While the Anthem is played, video clips of Florence’s Veteran’s Memorial Plaza and Main Street’s flowerboxes will be highlighted. The boxes will be decorated in Red, White and Blue flowers along with signs representing each branch of our military.

The Mayor and Town Council members will participate by offering thanks to our fallen heroes.

This presentation can be seen on the Town’s Facebook page and on the Town website (www.florenceaz.gov) on Monday, May 25th.

Also on Monday, American Legion Posts 9 and 97 invite the public to a Memorial Day ceremony starting at 7:00 a.m. at the Florence Cemetery. Legion members will place flags on the final resting locations of local veterans. The cemetery is located south of town, west off Highway 79 on Salazar Street.
