Training Unit


The Florence Police Department Training Unit is responsible for the training of all employees who work for the Department. This pertains to both sworn and civilian personnel. The Training Unit is under the direct supervision of Support Services Manager, Deanna Husk. The Training Unit consists of a Training Coordinator – Sgt. Scott Morris and the following officers: Officer Jason Chavez, Officer Tanner Foster, Officer Damon Horn, Officer Kyle Kakar, and Officer Jeff Palmer.
The Training Unit is directly responsible for the following:
- Ensuring that officers receive training as required by AZPOST
- Ensuring that civilian staff receives up-to-date specialized training for assigned areas to include: Records, Evidence, and Communications
- Training in policy and procedures
- Legal updates
- Officer safety information
- Current trends in the law enforcement profession
- Annual Training Calendar
- Training Audits
The first department wide training took place on March 31 and April 7th.
Officers also received training on these days for the following:
- Use of Force Policy
- Taser
- OC Spray
- Impact Weapons
- Less Lethal Options
