Consistent with the Town’s strategic goal to build and maintain the community’s transportation infrastructure, Florence Town staff will be overseeing an “HA5” street sealant project March 14-22 in the Anthem and Florence areas.
The project will focus on:
- Various streets in the Anthem Community north and south of Merrill Ranch Parkway
- The Main Street Extension / East Ranchview Road north of Town Hall
- Central Street, Willow Street, and East 22nd Street north of Florence High School
- Florence Heights Drive from Main Street to Pinal Parkway
The project, which is scheduled during the Florence Unified School District’s spring break to mitigate delays and access issues, will begin on Monday, March 14, 2022, and conclude on Tuesday, March 22. All residents affected by this project will receive notices delivered to their door 48 hours prior to the work.
After the sealant is applied, motorists must remain off the affected roadways for 24 hours and any residents who normally park on affected streets will need to arrange to park elsewhere while this work is being completed. Staff will post a number of notifications, including maps of the affected streets and the dates sealant will be applied, on the Town’s website and social media leading up to the beginning of the project on March 14.
Speaking to this sealant project and the Town’s annual road maintenance activities, Streets Superintendent Dan Cisco stated, “HA5 is a proprietary product manufactured by Holbrook Asphalt that is used to seal roads from the damaging effects of moisture and UV rays. It also leaves an aesthetically pleasing black surface that in many cases lasts up to 10 years. We started this application 6 years ago on pavement that is still in pretty good shape and only in need of some preliminary crack sealing to extend the life of the street. We try to do the HA5 application and a chip seal project every year depending on budget”.
The Town has prepared four maps of the affected roadways which include planned closure dates here: https://www.florenceaz.gov/public-works/. If residents have any questions regarding the project, please contact Streets Superintendent Dan Cisco at 520-251-0735 or dan.cisco@florenceaz.gov.
