Sherrie Bedford: Councilmember
Sherrie L. Bedford brings a wealth of experience in public safety and community service to the Florence Town Council. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sherrie relocated to Florence, Arizona, in January 2020, and has since become an active participant in the community, attending town meetings virtually and staying engaged in local issues.
With an extensive career in law enforcement, Sherrie has held multiple leadership roles, including Police Officer, Director of Public Safety and Security at Girard College, Site Manager for U.S. Security Services, and School Police Officer for the School District of Philadelphia. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to the safety and well-being of the community, especially children. Sherrie's qualifications include expertise in police administration, investigations, officer training, victim investigations, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. She also has a solid understanding of terrorism awareness and prevention, narcotics identification, and tactical firearms training.
In addition to her professional experience, Sherrie serves on the Foster Care Advisory Board and has applied to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. Sherrie is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for families and children in Florence and believes in building on the existing programs, such as those offered by the Parks and Recreation Department, the Dorothy Nolan Senior Center, and the Discovery Club. She is eager to contribute more opportunities for youth and families in the community.
Sherrie holds an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Investigations from Everest University, along with certifications from the Temple University Police Academy and Delaware County Institute of Training’s Security Program.
Sherrie is the proud mother of two children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is deeply invested in the betterment of the community and the safety of its residents. Sherrie looks forward to continuing her service to the town of Florence and advocating for programs that benefit all members of the community.
