A five-session workshop series, designed to develop the skills needed to care for someone with dementia or memory loss is being planned to be held in Florence this summer.

Workshop attendees will learn about dementia and its impact, how to manage frustration and stress associated with caring for a loved one with dementia or memory loss, how to communicate with their loved ones, and how to take better care of their own health.  To participate, persons need to provide an average of four hours, or more, of care or supervision per day for a family member with dementia or memory loss, and find caregiving increasingly demanding of their time and energy.

Respite assistance may be available to help caregivers attend the workshops. The program is a partnership of the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter, Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens, Arizona State University, and the Arizona Department of Economic Security.

There is no charge for the CarePRO program.  However, there is a pre-registration process and seating is limited.  To learn more about this opportunity, please call Mindy at the Alzheimer’s Association at 602-528-0545 Ext. 210.
