February 2026 | Jeanine Wilson
Power Performer February 2026 is Jeanine Wilson. It takes a selfless commitment to recognize that our South Wastewater Plant still needed continuous improvement, even when our specialists were saying the plant was functioning at a high level and meeting all requirements. Not satisfied with that assessment, Jeanine focused on establishing an on-site laboratory operation where staff could perform testing of water samples immediately rather than sending samples out and waiting days for results. This singular action allows staff to make corrections on the spot, maintaining a level of healthy organisms that keeps our effluent at an A+ (outstanding) level.
During a recent visit to the plant, Jeanine’s supervisor showcased her work by placing a Sequencing Batch Reactor sample of water in a testing glass. Within minutes, the solids separated and created clear water. What I thought was a normal process, Jeanine’s supervisor informed me normally takes about 30 minutes. Jeanine has our samples separating within five minutes, an absolute first for this division.
I then had an opportunity to look at Jeanine’s water through a microscope, and the Stalked Ciliates (good bugs) were reigning supreme. This is exactly what you want in a healthy environment of recycled water. If I was not already impressed by what I had just witnessed, on my way out the door the supervisor shouted, “Hey Bruce, by the way our nitrates and ammonia are at 0.” I won’t even discuss how she is training all our treatment staff on the intricacies of plant operations. Simply not needed and nothing else needs to be said. An outstanding performer who deserves to be recognized for her contributions to the Town’s success. Well done, Jeanine
