Florence, AZ – The Town of Florence appreciates the residents, employees, and community members who attended the Special Town Council meeting on Monday, June 29, and shared their perspectives regarding the leadership of the Florence Fire & Medical Department. The Town Council values public engagement and understands the importance of clear communication during times of transition.

To help keep the community informed, we would like to share what residents can expect in the coming weeks.

The Fire Chief position remains open, and the first review of applications is scheduled for August 3. The Town is committed to selecting a qualified leader who will support the men and women of Florence Fire & Medical while ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional fire and emergency services to Florence residents.

The Town is also preparing for the planned transition in the Town Manager’s Office. As previously announced, Town Manager Bruce Walls’ retirement date is August 1. Following his retirement, Deputy Town Manager and Town Clerk Lisa Garcia will serve as Interim Town Manager while the Town conducts the recruitment process for a new Town Manager. The first review of applications for the Town Manager position is also scheduled for August 3.

While the Town navigates these leadership transitions, our focus remains on maintaining the high level of service our residents expect and supporting the employees who deliver those services every day.
