Florence, AZ – The Town of Florence is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Tuomey as the new Utilities Director, effective June 30, 2025. Tuomey brings nearly two decades of public works and utilities experience to the position, most recently serving as Utility Operations Manager for the City of Elmhurst, Illinois.
In his role with Elmhurst, Tuomey oversaw a 20-million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant, managed capital improvement projects, and supervised a wide range of utility operations including lift stations, stormwater infrastructure, and water production systems. He is known for his team-oriented leadership style, strong focus on safety and efficiency, and his commitment to employee development and community service.

Florence’s Utilities Department is responsible for providing safe, reliable water and wastewater services to residents. This includes managing five active well sites that produce approximately 1.4 million gallons of water daily and operating two wastewater treatment plants that support groundwater recharge. Tuomey will lead this critical department, working alongside certified staff to ensure efficient service delivery and long-term sustainability.
