The popularity of soccer is booming by virtue of its constant presence on the national news and sporting networks. Florence Parks and Recreation is doing its part to make this great sport available to our youth by offering another session of World Cup Youth Soccer.
Children ages three to 14 years old are eligible to play in the league which plays games on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning in February. Registration, which is open through January 11th, may be done at the Florence Library/Community Center or online at www.florenceaz.gov/parks.
The early bird fees are only $35 for residents and $44 for non-residents (early bird is through January 4th). A late fee of $10 is assessed after January 4th.
Playing soccer yields several benefits for children. Exercise is critical to the well-being of children as well as discipline and confidence. Participants also make new friends, which contributes to the social maturity of young people.
Volunteer coaches are needed for the successful operation of the program. Please contact Erasmo “Beebo” Mendivil Jr. at (520) 868-7586 to volunteer or more information.
