On Thursday, June 5, Florence Heights Drive will be closed to thru traffic while construction crews initiate a surface treatment to the pavement.

As part of the surface treatment, cracks in the pavement are filled with asphaltic concrete, and then rolled and swept to level and stabilize the base course.  A rubberized stabilized asphalt emulsion is then applied to the surface of the roadway. Superior ultraviolet protection, flexibility adhesion, durability, and color retention provides a high performance surface treatment. The existing severely distressed surface provides a like-new surface, prolonged pavement life, and quieter and smoother ride-ability.

Provisions are available for local traffic (Rancho Alto and Big Horn Apartments) while the roadwork is ongoing. Thru traffic is detoured onto Stewart Street to the north or to the “Y” intersection (southern intersection of SR 79/79B) to the south.

Unless weather or other unforeseen variables cause delays, Florence Heights Drive will be reopened on late Thursday night or early Friday morning.  Your patience during this maintenance process is much appreciated.
