Gather your family and friends to register for the Florence Parks & Recreation Department’s Hiking Club.
The second hike this season is Saturday, December 13, 2014 and it starts at the Peralta Trailhead in the Superstition Mountains. It is a five-mile, round trip, moderately difficult hike, to the Freemont Saddle. Hikers’ then enjoy a spectacular view of Weaver’s Needle, the central landmark in most versions of the Lost Dutchman’s Mine story.
The registration deadline is Friday, December 12. A hiking information sheet is provided upon registration.
Participants meet at the Florence Fitness Center (133 N. Main Street) at 8:45 am. Departure time is 9:00 am sharp. Participants drive themselves to the trailhead. The hike and drive-time for this event is approximately five to six hours.
The fee is $5.00 for this event and there is a 15 person group limit. Hikers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
