Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the annual Reel Kids Fishing Derby and Family Campout on Friday, March 8, 2013 beginning at 6:00 pm.  “Lake Florence” in Heritage Park will be alive with hungry, jumping catfish, just waiting to be reeled in by kids 18 and under (adults can fish after 8:00 pm).

The event, which is free to the public and presented by Florence Parks and Recreation Department, includes fishing, camping, music, food and prizes.  Prizes include a grand prize for the biggest fish caught.  In addition, the Florence Little League will have food concessions for sale.

Overnight camping is allowed for this event and tents may be set up from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  All the fishing equipment, including rods, reels and bait are available for kids to check out on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 5:00 pm.

In order to keep this event enjoyable and fun, there is no snagging or netting allowed during the weekend.

Mark your calendar for Friday, March 8 and plan to participate in Florence’s own Annual Fishing Derby.
