Hundreds of trick-or-treaters will appreciate donated bags of wrapped candy for the annual Halloween Fright Fest on Thursday, October 31st. The community responded last year with close to 100 pounds of donated candy. Florence Community Services Department hopes to receive in excess of that amount for this year’s Fright Fest. Donations may be delivered to the Library and Community Center, 778 N. Main Street, or the Anthem Fire Station at 2035 N. Hunt Highway. The department also wants non-profits, community service groups, organizations, and families to participate in the popular “Trunk or Treat” at Fright Fest. Decorate your car trunks, truck tailgates or golf carts and join us on Main Street on Halloween night. The department is also inviting owners of side-by-side utility vehicles to join the fun and distribute candy to the little trick-or-treaters. A special street will be set aside for the side-by-sides to display and participate. It’s recommended each participant bring 75 pounds of candy. A special prize will be awarded to the best decorated trunk space. Contact recreation coordinator Ali Feliz at (520) 868-7585 or at alison.feliz@florenceaz.gov for more details.
