The Florence Community Library is celebrating Children’s Day/Book Day (El día de los niños/ El día de los libros) on Saturday, April 27. All children and their caregivers are invited for an afternoon of fun at the Florence Community Library at 1:00pm.

The library is hosting local author Lindsay Marshall, an attorney and Director of the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project. She is reading from “Solar System Soup,” which is her first book in collaboration with Don Bearwood (pictures), a winter visitor to Florence from the Cascade Mountains of Washington state. Crafts, snacks and raffle will follow the reading.

Children’s Day/Book Day (El día de los niños/ El día de los libros) has been observed annually since 1997. It is a day created by librarians and educators as a celebration of childhood and bilingual literacy. It emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background.

Seating is limited, so advance registration is recommended. For more information, or to sign up, please call the library at (520) 868-8311.
