The Florence Town Council is hosting a work session on Monday, June 16th at 6:00pm to discuss potential changes to the Town Code to enhance opportunities for businesses in downtown Florence.

Specifically, the Town Council is discussing changes to the Town Code regarding flexible alternatives for commercial signage and construction in the downtown.  Changes proposed to the Town Code by Town staff add more flexibility for business owners to construct or reuse commercial buildings in the downtown.  The Town Council will also discuss a possible reduction in development related fees.

Staff reached out to other cities and towns in Arizona to discuss best practices with building officials and specialists in economic development.  Conversations with the International Code Council were also helpful in identifying ways that the Town can address a more streamlined means for businesses to reuse or construct buildings in the downtown, and facilitate development in the Town core.

The public is encouraged to attend the work session to comment and provide thoughts on measures that would help promote business development in the downtown.
