Florence Voted in as Newest Member of MAG

On May 22, 2013, the Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Council voted unanimously to expand its membership to include the Town of Florence and the City of Maricopa.  

“The Town of Florence’s inclusion into MAG provides us with additional planning and transportation resources that will enhance our ability to properly plan for our future”, said Florence Mayor Tom J. Rankin.  

On February 25, 2013, the Florence Town Council voted 6 to 0 to request membership in MAG.  At the heart of the discussion was the future regional transportation needs for the Town of Florence and the importance of joining a metropolitan planning organization (MPO) that included San Tan Valley, because that is where Florence’s future transportations needs are most pressing.
