The Fourth of July “Freedom Fest” is rapidly approaching.  This year’s celebration event is on Friday, July 4, 2014 at Heritage Park.  The Florence Parks and Recreation Department is planning another memorable day of fun, food, activities, games, music and of course, fireworks.

The headline entertainer is Rhythm Edition.  The group, based in Glendale and performing since 1990, plays a variety of music.

The day begins with a variety of water activities at the Florence High School community pool.  Activities later in the day include Horseshoe, Corn Hole and Mud Volleyball Tournaments.  Inflatables for the kids and a skateboard competition are also among the planned activities.

New to this year’s event is a Beer Garden, presented by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse.   Because of the presence of the beer garden, visitors to the event are reminded that outside alcohol will not be allowed during the Fourth of July event.   However, visitors may bring non-alcoholic beverages into the park.

More food vendors are expected this year as well so all taste buds should be satisfied.  The Parks and Recreation Department is still seeking food vendors and sponsors.  Please call John Nixon at (520) 868-7699.
