The Florence Community Library invites you to a fun FREE workshop with artist Shari Keith, aka The Junk Lady!

Join us at the Library and Community Center on Monday, March 5, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, as teaching artist Shari Keith directs participants in creating key fobs from cactus skeletons. Cactus skeletons have been used for many purposes. Native Americans used saguaro ribs to build walls and furniture. Modern Southwestern artists often use cholla skeletons in their work.

Attendees will use pieces of saguaro ribs and cholla skeletons in this craft, transforming pieces of dead cacti into a unique and eye-catching accessory. This craft is not recommended for small children, as creating the final product will involve the following activities: sanding, gluing, staining, and hammering small nails.

The workshop is limited to 20 participants. Walk-ins are welcome on a space-available basis, but advance registration is recommended.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to sign up for this workshop, please contact the library at (520) 868 – 8311.
