Florence Community Services Department is pleased to offer another historic lecture from AZ Humanities on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:00 p.m. in the Library and Community Center. The presentation is titled, Arizona: A History of Snake Oil Salesmen, Scams and Hoaxes. Our state has seen its share of entrepreneurs offering various get rich quick schemes. Benefitting from tales of abundant resources in the Arizona territory, limited law enforcement and communication, a scoundrel could create tempting promises of wealth and success without much investment or oversight. Chris Reid is the presenter at this free event and is a writer and researcher at the Pinal County Historical Society. She is also a community scholar for the ASU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The Community Center is located at 778 N. Main Street. For more information, call (520) 868-7040.
