The Town of Florence Police Department now offers a Prescription Drug Drop-Off Box for use by the community.  The drop-off box is located in the lobby of the Florence Police Department lobby, located at 425 N. Pinal Street.  The service is free to the public and allows citizens to rid their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted medications.

Citizens may drop off their prescription drugs and/or over the counter drugs to the Florence Police Department at any time of the day.  The medication may be turned in anonymously.

Medications in standard containers may be deposited in the container. Loose medication can be put into plastic bags available at the collection box and then deposited. Please ensure any liquid medication is enclosed in secure containers before depositing.  Once collected, the Florence Police Department will ensure the medication is disposed of according to State and Federal laws.

Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more Americans currently abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroin combined. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
