On Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5:30pm, Dr. Matthew Whitaker will discuss “The African-American Experience in Arizona” at the Florence Community Library.

Whitaker’s presentation focuses on the 20th century, when the rise of industry necessary to support World War II created new opportunities, bringing with it a freer lifestyle in the west.  People of African descent have lived in Arizona since 1528.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Florence Community Library, and is made possible by the Arizona Humanities Council.  Limited seating is available.  Please contact the library at (520) 868-8311 to sign up for this event.
