Classic literature comes to life, as “The Big Read” arrives at the Florence Community Library!

On Friday, January 11, at 5:30pm, actors from the Arizona Curriculum Theater will visit the library programming room.  They will perform a dramatic reading of selections from “The Grapes of Wrath,” John Steinbeck’s classic novel about a family’s struggle to survive the hardships of the Great Depression.  Some of the most memorable moments from this Pulitzer Prize winning classic will be brought to life, enhanced with images from the historical Dust Bowl.

“The Big Read” is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, sponsored locally by The West Valley Arts Council with generous support and funding from the State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, under the Library Services and Technology Act which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library, Maricopa County Library District, Act One Foundation, and BNSF Railway.

For more information, or to sign up for the program, please contact the library at (520) 868 – 8311.
