The Florence Community Library’s 2012 summer reading program, “Our State, Our Story: Celebrating 100 Years of Arizona,” has ended.  The library would like to extend thanks to the more than 600 patrons who participated in the Reading Club and attended special events at the library. 

The summer’s top reader was David Moreno, son of Guadalupe and Maria Moreno, with more than 600 books read.  Other readers of note were: Savannah Reece, Victor Reece, Jr., Anthony Berdge, Jamie Hoffman, Lexie Hoffman, Landon Larson, Marianne Johnson, Samuel Lewis, Taylor Hammontree, Isabelle Wang, Miki Ysaguirre, Jared Johnson, and Joey Thaxton. 

The top teen reader was Jesusfernando Moreno, son of Guadalupe and Maria Moreno, who completed more than 400 hours of reading. Other teen readers of note were: Sara Piket, George Tessier, Jr., Jeanie Pitts, Michael Pitts, and Matthew Piket. 

The top adult reader was Andd Becker, who read 24 books.  Other adult readers of note were: Marilyn Hall, Kandi Hartung, and Denise Kollert.  Patron book reviews turned in as part of the adult summer reading program will remain available to read at the library. 

The library would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed in making this year’s summer program a big success: The Friends of the Florence Community Library, the Arizona Cardinals, the Phoenix Zoo, the Pinal County Historical Museum, B & D Restaurants Inc./McDonalds, b.dazzle Inc., and Wild Planet Toys Inc.  We would also like to thank our wonderful volunteers: Melanie Crounse, Nicole Young, Nylee Hamilton, Nic Mendoza, Jose Zapata, Jacob Burruss, Emily Jones, and Aaron Booth.
