The Town of Florence hired Michael Farina to be the next Finance Director.  His first day on the job is Monday, June 3rd.   Mr. Farina is replacing Rebecca Guilin who is retiring from the Town in June after 19 years of dedicated public service to the Town and the community.   Ms. Guilin will stay on after Mr. Farina’s first day to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Farina grew up in New Mexico and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Accounting and earned his CPA in 1994.  After graduation and a brief stint with an accounting firm, Mr. Farina went to work as an accountant and an instructor for a community college district in northern New Mexico before landing his first municipal accounting position with the Town of Parker in 1997.  He was promoted to Finance Director there in 2006, a position he held until the end of 2012.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Town of Florence management team.  The Town has a solid financial position and I look forward to building on that as we move forward in the coming months and years,” Farina commented.

Town Manager Charles Montoya said he is pleased with the outcome of the recent recruitment process.  “I’m familiar with Mike’s work in Colorado.  He’s well qualified and will be a great fit for the position and the community.  He will be a great asset to the Town of Florence as we move forward,” Mr. Montoya explained.
