Based upon recent participant surveys, Florence Parks & Recreation Department has made changes to its Karate for Kids classes.

Karate for Kids I class time will return to 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Karate for Kids II from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The class has been expanded to Monday and Wednesday evenings and designed for children from six to 17 years old.

This class is just $50.00 per month for the first family member; $40.00 per month for the second family member; $30.00 per month for the third family member and $20.00 per month for each additional family member. The non-resident fee is $62.50 per month.

New instructor, Pete Rodriquez has studied many different Martial Arts systems which include: Kenpo Karate, Kenpo Jujitsu, Aiki-Jujitsu, Jujitsu, Arnis, grappling, Judo, Shuri-te Okinawan Karate, Pressure Points, Kickboxing and boxing. He has 34 years of Martial Arts experience and is an internationally certified 5th degree black belt in Kenpo Jujitsu, Aiki Jujitsu and TKHDO; and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate and Jujitsu.

Classes will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm (ages 6 to 10 years) and 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (ages 11 to 17 years) on Monday and Wednesday evenings on a monthly basis beginning January 9, 2017 at the Florence Library & Community Center, 778 N. Main Street.
