At the end of 2015, the Town of Florence Parks & Recreation Department surveyed all Karate for Kids participants to help shape future classes. Several changes were made based upon those results.

Time Change: Karate for Kids I class time will return to 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Karate for Kids II from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The earlier class time is designed for children six to 10 years old while the 6:00 p.m. class is for 11 to 17 year olds.
Additional Class: Karate for Kids I and II is now on both Monday and Wednesday evenings. All classes are at the Florence Library and Community Center, 778 N. Main Street. Classes begin April 4th.
Family Discounts: This class is just $50.00 per month for the first family member; $40.00 per month for the second family member; $30.00 per month for the third family member and $20.00 per month for each additional family member. Non-residents are charged $62.50 per month.
Instructional Variety: New instructor, Pete Rodriquez has studied many different Martial Arts systems which include: Kenpo Karate, Kenpo Jujitsu, Aiki-Jujitsu, Jujitsu, Arnis, Grappling, Judo, Shuri-te Okinawan Karate, Pressure Points, Kickboxing and boxing.
Experience: Mr. Rodriguez has spent 34 years in the Martial Arts. Sensei Rodriguez is an internationally certified 5th degree black belt in Kenpo Jujitsu, Aiki Jujitsu and TKHDO; and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate and Jujitsu.
