Pursuant to Arizona Administrative Code, Title 18, Chapter 9, Article 1, the Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality intends to issue a Significant Amendment to a Temporary Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) to the following applicant(s):
Facility Name: Florence Copper Project Production Test Facility
Permit: Temporary Individual Aquifer Protection Permit No. P- 106360
Permittee: Florence Copper Inc.
1575 W. Hunt Highway
Florence, Arizona 85132
The facility is located in Pinal County, Arizona, over groundwater of the Pinal Active Management Area, in Township 4S, Range 9E, Section 28 of the Gila and Salt River Base Line and Meridian, Pinal County, Arizona.
The draft permit and related documentation are available for public review, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at ADEQ Records Management Center, 1110 West Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85007. In Phoenix, please call (602) 771-4380 or e-mail RecordsCenter@azdeq.gov 24 hours in advance to schedule an appointment to review the file.
The permit and fact sheet may be viewed online at http://azdeq.gov/cgi-bin/vertical.pl by accessing the notice on the Events and Notices Calendar for the date of this public notice. This permit is being issued subsequent to an appeal in which the majority of the permit was upheld. Therefore, those sections of the permit that have been upheld are not subject to public comments. Public comment is limited to only those sections that were remanded to the department for additional development.
Persons may submit comments on the proposed action, in writing, to Richard Mendolia, Project Manager, ADEQ, Water Permits Section, 1110 West Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85007, or electronically to FlorenceCopper@azdeq.gov, by May 19, 2016.
A Public Hearing will be held at the Florence High School Gymnasium on May 19, 2016, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow the public to make comments for the record. ADEQ will respond in writing to all comments submitted during the formal public comment period.
