ADOT is improving the intersection of Highway 79 and Highway 79B, just south of Florence.  The work performed includes the elimination of the existing one-way southbound transition lane onto Highway 79 and combining both directions of travel onto one roadway at the existing northbound left turn onto Highway 79B.

Once construction is completed, the new “T” intersection will provide motorists with a safer intersection and a more convenient way to travel through the area.

Construction is anticipated to begin on August 28th and last through late November.  The typical construction work schedule is from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Traffic restrictions are in effect during this time, with one lane closures being typical. Please observe all traffic controls put in place during this time, including flaggers and “Follow” vehicles.

It is recommended to use Florence Heights Drive as an alternate route during construction activities. Commercial truck traffic is encouraged to bypass the area and use Butte Avenue and Main Street to access Highway 287.  Local residential traffic has access to Sunset Drive and Cheryl Lane.
