FLORENCE, AZ – Pinal County Assessor Douglas Wolf is reminding senior citizens that the deadline to apply for Senior Freeze is Tuesday, September 1st, 2015.
“If the application is postmarked the 1st, or dropped off at our office in Florence, Casa Grande or Apache Junction by 5:00 PM that day, it meets the deadline, “said Wolf.
The Senior Freeze, formally known as the Senior Property Valuation Protection Option, locks the value of the primary residence for homeowners who apply and qualify for the program. There are residency, age, and income restrictions. The program does not freeze taxes but it can protect seniors from the effects of rising property values. “Property values are slowly starting to rise county-wide and this benefit should be looked at by every senior citizen,” added Wolf.
The Pinal County Assessor’s Office values over $18 billion dollars in property for 145 different taxing authorities within Pinal County. For more information, please visit the Assessor’s Office website at www.pinalcountyaz.gov/assessor.
