“Making A Difference” was the theme of this year’s Town of Florence Boards and Commissions Appreciation Dinner held on April 30 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. At the event, members of the various Town boards and commissions were thanked for their dedication and service to the community. The event was sponsored by the Town, Arizona Public Service Company, and the host sponsor was Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Mayor Tom Rankin acknowledged the valuable role and contributions of the Town boards and commissions in the operational oversight of many aspects of Town government and in community planning. He emphasized the value of community involvement and volunteerism by the members present and noted the message in the event program, “even if we disagree from time to time, be assured we respect your dedication and commitment and the role you play in our local Town government.”

Town staff members who serve as liaisons to the advisory groups, each described the duties and responsibilities of the various boards and commissions and introduced the members present for the celebration. Richard Rosales, APS Community Affairs Manager for the Southeast Division, was on-hand to add his expression of appreciation to the members of the boards and commissions on behalf of the company.

Members of the Town Council were also present, as were members of the Fire Profit Sharing Trust Board, Fire Public Safety Local Board, the Historic District Advisory Committee, the Industrial Development Authority, the Joint-Use Library Advisory Board, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, the Planning & Zoning Commission, the Police Public Safety Local Board, the Redevelopment Commission, and the Arts & Culture Commission, Florence’s newest commission.
