Come to the Florence Community Library Saturday, September 17 at 1:00 pm for a presentation about comic book movies, which have become some of the biggest blockbusters in release. The presentation will be followed by a showing of a critically acclaimed box office hit from earlier this year – all completely free of charge!

Over the past 10 years, comic book movies have become a dominant genre, boasting major stars, making big money, and often receiving some of the best reviews of any given year. The two largest comic book publishers have both built cinematic universes, in which each individual film becomes part of a larger series – an approach that has made an already successful genre even more so!

Join us as we look at the rise of these films, and some of the reasons why they have been so successful. Stay after the presentation for the showing of a major recent release. Popcorn and water will be available free to all who attend. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own food or soft drink to the show!
