The Town of Florence is holding an election(s) in the fall of 2016 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three Councilmembers. Florence residents who are interested in running for one of four open seats on the Florence Town Council can pick up candidate packets at the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall, located at 755 N. Main Street.

Each packet provides all the information necessary to run for one of four available seats on the Florence Town Council. The last day to file all of the candidate paperwork is June 1, 2016.

The Primary Election is scheduled for August 30, 2016, and the General Election is scheduled for November 8, 2016. To be elected at the Primary Election, a candidate must receive a majority of all the legal votes cast for that candidate’s race. If one or more of the seats are not filled after the conclusion of the Primary Election, then the election of the remaining Town Council seats are determined in the General Election. All terms for Town Council begin in December, 2016 and run for four years.

If you have any questions on the process of running for an open seat on the Town Council, please contact Lisa Garcia, Town Clerk, at (520) 868-7552 or stop by the Florence Town Hall. Office hours at Florence Town Hall are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding holidays.
